BAY SHORE, NY — Firefighters and police officers rescued more than 50 people trapped in a Bay Shore restaurant that flooded Thursday night. Suffolk County Police responded to Lakehouse Restaurant on 135 Maple Ave. at about 9 p.m. The Bay Shore Fire Department also responded and helped lead people out of the restaurant.
Firefighters used a repurposed 5-ton military vehicle — which had been delivered to the Bay Shore fire department the day before the flood — to help rescue the people, with help from the West Islip Fire Department.
